Sustainably we RYZE: Our first in-house sustainability report is here

Date
22/06/2026

Making sustainability visible – that is what we have been doing for our customers for many years. We have now gone one step further and are publishing our first sustainability report for the 2025 financial year: transparent, voluntary and in accordance with VSME.

A conscious shift in perspective

As a modern tech agency amongst communications agencies, we have been supporting companies for years in making sustainability visible to the public through their reporting and communications. With our first in-house sustainability report for the financial year 2025, we have consciously shifted our perspective: What does sustainability mean to us? Where does RYZE Digital stand today? And what contribution can we, as an agency, truly make?

We are reporting on a voluntary basis, even though – regardless of the Omnibus legislation – we are not required to report due to the size of our company and our key figures. We have chosen the VSME standard for our reporting. This standard is suited to our company’s size, is less complex than the ESRS, and yet still enables us to disclose our sustainability issues in a structured, transparent and credible manner.

Focus on our staff

Our report makes it clear that, for RYZE, the most important sustainability issues lie primarily within our own workforce. Our employees are, and will remain, our most important asset. This assessment is based on a materiality analysis that we carried out prior to the publication of the final VSME in 2025 and have included in the report.

A few figures illustrate where we currently stand: in the 2025 financial year, RYZE Digital employed an average of 167 staff. However, following the acquisition of an agency in early 2026, the number of employees rose significantly to 245 after the reporting year. We will break this down in detail in the 2026 Sustainability Report. In 2025, we invested a total of 6,348 hours in training and development.

We also disclose environmental indicators. As an agency, we do not have particularly high energy consumption or above-average emissions. Nevertheless, we report on this transparently because this data is relevant to our stakeholders and we are striving for improvements in this area too. In 2025, our total electricity consumption stood at 56 MWh, the proportion of green electricity was 71 per cent, and Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions amounted to around 97 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents.

With the publication of our first sustainability report in accordance with VSME for the 2025 financial year, we too are demonstrating our commitment to our customers, employees and society.

The greatest driver of sustainability in our client business

As important as our own sustainability report is to us, our greatest contribution lies in making sustainability visible to others. As specialists in sustainability consultancy and sustainability reporting, we support companies in identifying relevant issues, structuring their reports and communicating sustainability credibly.

This is precisely where our unique dual role lies: we aim to drive forward sustainability within our own organisation in a binding manner, whilst at the same time presenting the sustainability efforts of others in an engaging way on a large scale. To this end, RYZE supports companies throughout the entire reporting cycle: from strategic positioning through regulatory implementation to maximising the reach of the report’s content.

To get us started together, we offer a comprehensive, modular consultancy framework that allows tailor-made workshops to be combined as required. Particularly interesting offerings in the sustainability sector include Module 1 on stocktaking and benchmarking, Module 2 on regulation and compliance, and Module 6 on initial CSRD implementation – particularly suitable for those companies that will need to report on the 2027 financial year from 2028 onwards.

The materiality analysis

The materiality analysis is the centrepiece of sustainability reporting. It is a process for assessing which potential sustainability topics (from the areas of environment, social affairs and governance) are the most important for a company. As a result of the materiality analysis, these core topics determine which and how many aspects the company explains in the sustainability report.
