We RYZE together: Insights into training at RYZE Digital

Date

RYZE Digital trains junior staff in various professions. But how does it actually work? Our trainee Nina gives personal insights into her training as a media designer specialising in consulting and planning.

Hey, I'm Nina!

I'm 20 years old and started my apprenticeship as a media designer at RYZE Digital in September 2022, specialising in consulting and planning. In this article, I'd like to tell you all about what my apprenticeship entails, what tasks I'm allowed to take on and how they work.

My areas of work - design, consulting and planning

My three-year training programme focuses on production - which is media design for us - and project management. In production, I learn everything about typesetting, table layouts, graphics creation, image editing and much more. I mainly work with the programmes InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. And believe me, there's a lot more skill and creativity behind it than you might think!

In the second area, project management, we plan, supervise and organise customer projects. The most important aspects here are time management and cost planning. For example, I draw up schedules, calculate interim invoices and oversee the internal and external organisation of individual project steps. It all sounds pretty dry at first, doesn't it? But it's super interesting to see such large projects from a different perspective, to help build them up from the start and to see how the individual cogs interlock.

What apprenticeships does
RYZE Digital offer?

RYZE Digital trains junior staff in many different professional fields. Whether it's IT, web development, media design or marketing - there's something for everyone here!

How my apprenticeship works

My trainer takes care of the organisational side of things. She plans and organises all the training steps for me at the agency and I can turn to her with any questions - whether they have to do with the training or whether I just want to vent my worries.

Even though I spend most of my time working in media design and project management, I also get to know all the other departments at RYZE Digital during my training. This includes design, marketing, motion graphics, IT and our editorial department.

I'm assigned to these teams for around four to twelve weeks, so I have enough time to get to know them and their work and make new contacts. What I find cool about it is the intensive collaboration with the various colleagues who help me with any tasks or questions. Because as a trainee, especially in the first year of training, you don't always have the confidence to speak to all the "strangers" or ask anything. But I quickly realised that working is much more fun when you can talk to each other.

I have a contact person in each department who looks after me, teaches me new things and provides me with tasks. As I am often allowed to work on current customer projects, I get a very good insight into the day-to-day business. As an apprentice, I can also take part in numerous workshops and seminars and continue my education. I go to vocational school twice a week, on different days depending on the apprenticeship year. Most of the lessons there are specialised, where we also learn the operational and technical basics of media design.

Overall, the apprenticeship is very varied and always involves new and exciting activities. I'm looking forward to what the coming years at RYZE Digital will bring!
